How to use check_nrpe to do a check:
/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -p 5667 -t 15 -H lxtd7.multimap.com -c check_filesize -a '/logs/ddserver.log 1024 2048'
Hard / Soft state
- Hard state: a host or service enters in hard state when it goes to a non-OK state after all retry checks are exhausted.
- Soft state: it is triggered when a host/service recovers from a non-OK state during the retry checking process.
Host configuration
Notifications
- notification_enabled: specifies if notifications are enabled. Default to 1. 1=enabled ; 0 = disabled
- notification_interval: interval between notifications in minutes. If set to 0 Nagios will only send the notification once
- notification_period: specifies when the notification will be sent about an host. The period are defined in the object timeperiod
- notification_options: tell Nagios under which conditions it has to send notification about a host. The options are: d: for host down, u: for host unreachable, r: for host recovers, n: to send no notification, f: when the host is flapping
